AFTER-SCHOOL LESSONS
AFTER-SCHOOL SESSIONS
Weekly after-school training sessions are the core pillar of our program. From beginners who have no knowledge of chess to advanced tournament players, all of your students can experience the joy and benefits of learning chess by participating in our after-school programs. Our weekly practices focus on building culture and community, and we want each player to feel connected to and take pride in the program. Recognizing collective success is encouraged and inspires all players.
- Sessions begin with an opening meeting, where past successes and experience are recognized, upcoming events are introduced, and team spirit is reinforced.
- Sessions feature a combination of instruction/focused match play. We coach group players based on skill, interest level, and age, creating the right training environment for each player.
- Coaches constantly strive to get to know each player’s unique abilities in the program and provide them with individualized feedback and attention.
- While sessions prepare students for competition, there remains the opportunity for social and less competitive play. We encourage everyone to engage with each other at their comfort level.
ONLINE CHESS PLATFORM
- Our online platform is the premier coaching tool designed for kids! All students across our partner schools receive a free Gold membership. The platform allows students to complete puzzles, workouts, and lessons on a safe, age-friendly website/app.
- Each student’s platform engagement is closely tracked, and our coaches award prizes to and recognize the most engaged players each week.
AUXILIARY PROGRAMMING (TOURNAMENTS AND CAMPS)
- GMChessPrep hosts tournaments each week.
- In addition to tournaments, we host camps on school holidays and breaks, and over the summer, which give players additional opportunities to train with our grandmaster-level coaches and enjoy sports and socialize.
CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION (OPTIONAL)
- We have partnered with selected schools in our network to provide chess curriculum instruction during the school day. We can provide instruction for multiple or all grades.
- Curriculum chess enables us to reach a larger audience of students and parents that may not know how fun, accessible, and rewarding the game of chess can be!
